Suppression Fire

We've all heard that term when watching military movies or shows.  A group of soldiers will shoot continuously at the enemy to keep the enemies head down and make them unable to return fire.  It's normally done to allow other members of your unit to move while the enemy is unable to fire back.

The Holy Ghost does the same thing for us.  It provides suppression fire for our soul.  It keeps the carnal desires of our flesh suppressed, to keep us holy and allow the spiritual man in us to grow and become stronger than the desires of our flesh.  Just one caveat, the Holy Ghost has to have ammunition to provide that suppression fire.    It gets that ammo through prayer.  When we spend time praying and reach the presence of God through our prayer the Holy Ghost gets re-armed.  It gets those Supernatural bullets that overcome the desires of our flesh.  Here's the key you MUST reach the presence of God in your prayer.  How do you know when you reach HIS presence?  You'll feel it in your soul.

If we don't pray and reach his presence daily we go through the day unarmed.  There might be enough ammo to get you through, but if we continually go without reaching the presence of the Lord in prayer then we backslide.  The enemies of our soul gets to shoot at us unabated and those bullets begin to hit us and drain us until we find ourselves unable to resist sin and we fall.

My Pastor said it well several weeks ago when he said "If I didn't pray for several days you wouldn't like me."  That statement is true for all of us.

The Heart That Shines

Welcome to The Heart That Shines!  I hope this blog can be an inspiration and a helping resource to everyone that desires to have deep and close relationship with God.  Why the title?  I am convinced thru my own personal experience and the ultimate authority on God which is the word of God; the Bible, that it is what he wants for us now and forevermore.

The Old testament scriptures are examples and types and shadows for us of New Testament truths.  One in particular is the reason for the title.  When the children of Israel were in the wilderness Moses would ascend into the moutain to commune with God.  To hear from God and bring back word of his instructions.  As Moses began to spend more and more time with God a transformation occured.  His face began to shine with the Glory of God (Exodus 34:29).  It was an outward experience.  Today that same experience is an inward manisfestation.  When we receive the Holy Ghost Acts 2 like they did when the Church was born, there was a transformation.  A vibrant, glowing dynamo was put into our hearts that would help us to become children of God in our words and deeds.  However, that dynamo called the Holy Ghost has to be exercised daily, continually for us to grow and achieve the things God wants for us.

It is excercised when we get down on our knees to pray, when we worship and when we call upon his name as we go through each day.  Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.

When we have that Heart Shine we have the Glory of the Most High God building and flowing thorough our heart and lives.  That theme will run thorugh this blog.  Having the power and the Joy and the love and the glory of Jesus Christ in our hearts and in our lives!
