The prevailing view of God is a really big entity with a brooding personality. Reverent, doesn't smile, doesn't laugh, but looks down upon us with a critical, judgemental eye; always. The prevailing view is of an emotionless, expressionless God, one who just wants to whack you if you cross the line even a centimeter.
That my friends couldn't be further from the truth. Lets assume he came down again and inhabited another body in 2010. Lets assume he had a job in a large company. Would he be the CEO? He could be but he probably wouldn't be. What would you see from him?
A person who was always smiling. When he saw you in the morning he'd be so happy to see you. He'd grip your hand firmly look into your eyes and tell you good morning with such warmth and sincerity. He'd be walking around or sitting at his desk whistling or humming a tune all day. He'd be so full of and exude so much joy that most of us would get sick of it. He would be a great friend to you and a team player. He'd help you out with a project. When he went to lunch he'd invite you every time and pay from time to time. He'd be the one always making the fresh coffee and ask you if you wanted a cup. If you were sick he'd come over and ask to pray for you. If you had a family tragedy he'd be at your house giving all the help he could. If your car broke down, he give you a ride where ever you needed to go.
When you think of him don't think of the brooding God cause you got the wrong guy. Like a parent helping his child to walk he encourages. He loves, he is patient. You won't see an ounce of pride in him. He is kind. He throws a party in heaven whenever someone repents and he dances at the party too with a big smile and high fives to all the angels. He shouts for joy when his children overcome. He is more charismatic than the most charismatic man that has ever walked the earth. People gravitate to him because of his joy and sincereity. When you are hurt or sick or sad he weeps for you. He is love.
Yes, you must revere him but he is not an expressionless, emotionless deity sitting on a throne ready to judge.
He is the person we'd all like to be if we knew him.
